Rockstar Games has announced that pre-orders for the Day 1 Digital edition of Grand Theft Auto V have gone live on the Playstation Store in North America and Latin America.
So now instead of worrying about getting down to your local store at midnight, you can kick back, and provided you’ve got a fast internet connection, start downloading and playing GTA 5 in the wee hours of September 17.
It was also confirmed that all digital pre-orders will still receive the Atomic Blimp in-game vehicle, just like those who make “physical” game pre-orders. Not only that though, but all digital pre-orders will also receive a free exclusive PS3 theme as well as 75% off any full priced Rockstar games on the Playstation Network (this discount will be available from when you make your pre-order so might help kill some time until GTA 5 is released!).
Regarding Day 1 Digital pre-orders for the Xbox 360 version of the game, Rockstar has advised that the Xbox Games on Demand service does not offer the ability to pre-order games or make them available on launch day. So if you own a Xbox 360 and want GTA V on launch, you’ll still need a physical copy. Rockstar does want to make GTA 5 available to download from Xbox Live as soon as technically possible though.
No word yet on whether the PS3 pre-order offer will be made available to those of us outside North America and Latin America.
