Yet Another GTA 5 Graphics Enhancement Mod Appears

You’ll need one hell of a PC to run this thing

Considering the hardware requirements of these things, graphical mods for GTA 5 have pretty much always been about the modder showing off their expertise rather than making something intended for widespread use. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but this bloody thing would melt my recently built high-end gaming PC in seconds.

Joining the already long list of graphical enhancement mods for GTA 5 which seek to achieve faux-photorealism in the game is NaturalVision 2.0 from modder Razed. Like so many other such mods, this is an amalgamation of existing mods with much of Razed’s handiwork being optimization, the tweaking of settings and ensuring that the various mods are compatible.

Of course, there is a lot more going on and making one of these mods is fairly complex – Razed himself said that so far he’s put 400 hours of work into NaturalVision 2.0 to get it into its current form. While one high-end graphics mod is almost indistinguishable from the other at this point, it’s clear that NaturalVision really nailed that realistic feel while other mods improve graphics by enhancing them in non-realistic ways.

Version 2.0 is a complete overhaul of the entire NaturalVision mod and was built on top of the VisualV timecycle. In my opinion, it is by far the most realistic looking GTAV graphics mod currently out there. There were a lot of changes made and you will notice this as you play. The overall color and lighting in v2.0 is very accurate to Los Angeles in real life.

NaturalVision is based on the framework of VisualV, another graphical enhancement mod. Razed also credits a number of other modders who contributed to the project, or whose work he benefited from during development – unlike certain other graphical enhancement mod authors.

While the mod really nails the visuals of the game and offers a breathtaking new experience, it isn’t such a gargantuan task to run the thing. Razed assures users that running NaturalVision 2.0 will only decrease their average FPS when running GTA 5 un-modded by 5-10, which is pretty minimal in the grand scheme of things. Of course, you’ll get the best effects if you coat ultra setting with this mod, which is something few PCs can handle these days – even with 1080’s in SLI and an overclocked high-end i7 CPU.

While the competition is tight, the photorealistic effects, low framerate casualty, plus the honesty and openness of the developer are definite bonuses.
