Hands-on Previews Summary of Information

We just posted ten new screenshots, now as promised here’s an easy to read summary of all the juicy details revealed in today’s hands-on previews.

What’s your favorite feature?

  • The general “vibe” is that Rockstar has taken all the best elements from all of its games and included them in GTA V.
  • If you’re walking normally it will be quite slow.
  • The framerate is pretty solid and there was no stuttering when switching between characters.
  • The flying under bridges achievements are back (from GTA IV). There is 50 to do.
  • Grove Street (from GTA: San Andreas) is back.
  • Every single shop front in the game is unique!
  • There is a lot more destructible objects/environments in GTA V. Things like gas cylinders, motor cars and fuel tanks can all be used to your advantage, including in missions.
  • Small things like animals yelping when hit and neon signs buzzing are included.
  • The map is open from the start.

  • The main NPCs have literally thousands of different animations.
  • Chop is actually Lamar’s dog, not Franklin’s, and he can be used to distract enemies.
  • Franklin has immediate access to a lot of high-end vehicles immediately thanks to Simeon’s dealership.
  • Each character has his own “hang-out” area. Franklin in the ghetto, Michael in the business district and Trevor in the Wastelands.
  • Health will re-generate automatically to a maximum of 50% only.
  • A colored flash means that you are about to be switched to a different character. Blue means Michael, Green means Franklin and Orange means Trevor.

Weapons and Combat

  • Miniguns are so powerful they can annihilate a vehicle pretty much instantly.
  • Some Ammu-Nation stores are open at night.
  • The weapons wheel has a number of sub-categories within it. You select the type of weapon you want first and then cycle between the different weapons themselves.
  • Weapon customization options include the power, gauge levels and rate of fire.
  • Every weapon you pick up is stored in the wheel forever, you will always be able to select it, even if you get busted, die or run out of ammo. The maximum weapon estimate is 14.
  • AI will sometimes move around and change position to get a better shot at you.
  • You can give weapons to the other protagonists.

  • Each vehicle has unique handling and performance and you can turn it’s engine off.
  • Midnight Club: Los Angeles has been used as the basis for the racing elements in GTA 5.
  • You can drive trains.
  • If you lose a saved vehicle (ie it’s abandoned or destroyed) you can recover it from the local impound lot (for a fee).
  • Helicopter controls are pretty much as they were in GTA IV.
  • There are four different in-vehicle views plus a cinematic mode.
  • Other drivers will flip you off if you hit them, and pedestrians have varied reactions to car-jackings and other types of driving.
  • Car crashes often leave trails of fuel, which can be used later to blow up the cars fully. When they do blow-up, it’s very realistic.

  • Some mission names include “Derailed”, “Nervous Ron” and “Vinewood Babylon” and one mission involves breaking out of FIB HQ.
  • There could be a number of different ways to successfully complete a mission.
  • There are mission checkpoints and all missions can be replayed.
  • Whatever was happening at the end of a mission will also continue when you move into free roam (like exploded cars etc). The world does not reset.
  • You will need to make split-second decisions.

  • If you go into the water during a chase, the police will still come after you.
  • Every single different police entity has it’s own search circle (i.e. there is not a single circle for all cops like in GTA IV).
  • Blowing up a cop car will earn you 1 star and flying over the prison will earn you 2 stars.

All New GTA V Info – DLC Details & More!

The Official Playstation magazine for Brazil “Playstation Revista Oficial” scored an interview with Rockstar Games and have given us just a little bit more information about the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto V…

  • Franklin’s missions will all primarily involve gang warfare and car racing.
  • Heists are not actually part of the “core game story”.
  • There will be downloadable content available to purchase (DLC), but no release date was provided.
  • There will be buses (and specific bus routes) in the game.
  • You can activate your character’s special powers by pressing either L3 (PS3) or LS (Xbox 360).
  • Photos that you take in-game can be uploaded to the Rockstar Social Club.
  • Franklin’s “look” has changed the most over the period since development of the game started.
  • Rockstar Tip #1: If you are going to steal a plane, choose Trevor. He’s the best pilot.
  • Rockstar Tip #2: If you want to escape during a car chase, choose Franklin as he’s the best driver.

More New GTA 5 Rumors

Spanish site Area Jugones (literally “Area Hardcore Gamers”) apparently got itself access to some exclusive new GTA 5 information. While the info is about as unconfirmed as you can get (and indeed some of it seems pretty improbable) we’re posting it nonetheless to keep you guys as informed as possible about GTA V. Let us know what rumored features make sense to you and what you think are unlikely, we’ve included some of our comments below.

  • Franklin starts at the bottom of the “crime ladder” and restores cars cars for a “crappy” Armenian named Simeon Yetaria. (GTA5C: this possibly means you’ll start the game with Franklin, who knows what “crappy” is meant to mean!).
  • You can check the bank balance of your character via ATMs (GTA5C: we’ve seen this rumored elsewhere before).
  • There are hitchhikers in the game.
  • Michael has a special mini-game in which he can attempt to rob ATMs.
  • There are no internet cafes, instead you can access websites and social networks from your in-game mobile phone (GTA5C: makes sense).
  • You can park your car, ignite the gas tank and explode the vehicle to destroy it/other people/things (GTA5C: we guess this is as opposed to trying to smash up your car and make it explode that way).
  • Hundreds of pet accessories are available (GTA5C: sounds like a lot…)
  • If you have a dog, it can die or get lost. You can then purchase a new one at a pet store (GTA5C: the getting lost part is at least true).
  • The meat you obtain from hunting can be sold to food factories and farms. The meat is then used by in-game burger joint “Burger Shot”.
  • If you park your car on the street without a parking ticket it will be towed away. It is possible to reclaim your vehicle by paying a fine to the relevant municipal department (like if you’ve modified it heavily).
  • Character special abilities are activated using L3 (GTA5C: special ability details here).

New GTA V Scraps for Monday

New information about Grand Theft Auto V continues to leak out at a frustratingly slow pace (we want to know it all, now!) but that said we do have a little something for you today courtesy of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu… mostly about animals in GTA 5. The original article (along with all the details) is in Japanese, so here’s quick primer on some thing you can expect regarding animals and pets in the game:

  • You can purchase accessories, like dog collars, for any pet (such as Chop, Franklin’s dog).
  • Chop can get lost and even end up in the Dog Pound if you neglect him (previously released information).
  • There are more than 15 different types of animals in the game.
  • All wild animals (that is, not pets) can be hunted. We saw a glimpse of this in the gameplay video.

Famitsu also had these non-animal-related tidbits to share:

  • GTA V will be released in Japan on October 10 this year.
  • Each character has it’s own walk (I guess this means the realism will be there – good to know).
  • Animations are much improved over previous games in the GTA series (again, good to know).
  • One of the missions you need to complete in the game will take place entirely underwater.
  • Trevor and Michael can share a jet-ski ride together. Two comments on this: (1) how sweet; and (2) wonder why Franklin is left out of the fun?

Anyway, there you have it. A very random list of new Grand Theft Auto 5 information from a Japanese gaming magazine. What else did you expect?

Rockstar Confirms No Delay, Gameplay Video Soon & More

Rockstar just posted an extremely informative “Asked & Answered” which addresses several of the most common questions people have about GTA V. Is there a delay? When will we see gameplay? How many discs is the Xbox 360 version? What about multiplayer? A PC version? How customizable are cars and weapons? What about cheating in multiplayer? All this and more is answered below, direct from the horses mouth. Enjoy!

PS: We have a new screenshot too:

Will GTA 5 be delayed?

There’s nothing to worry about, so we aren’t quite sure what you’re smelling! GTAV will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.

Will there be a PC version of GTA V?

The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.

How many discs will the Xbox 360 version of the game be?

Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game we have yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems. For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.
This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance. For PlayStation 3, the game ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.

How customizable with weapons and vehicles be?

Without going into detail just yet, we can tell you that both will be very customizable – with a range of weapon upgrades as well as some very deep car customization. Stay tuned for more very soon.

When we will see a gameplay trailer?

Yes. Soon (or in September if you don’t want to see it before you play it… it’s up to you) – the first Official Gameplay Video is on its way…

What about multiplayer information?

Expect to hear some first details soon – it’s called Grand Theft Auto Online and we’re very excited to unveil it for you sometime this summer.

How will cheating in multiplayer be covered? (something we are against by the way – GTA 5 Cheats endorses official cheats only!)

Ever since Grand Theft Auto IV was released, we’ve continued to integrate newer and stronger methods of cheat detection and prevention for each of our games. While we have yet to reveal specifically what new anti-cheating measures we have planned for GTAV, rest assured that we’re focused on creating as level a playing field and as fair, fun (and healthy as you say) an experience as possible for everyone. There will always be some people who want to cheat but we are going to do our best to stop it. We have spent a lot of time and effort making an incredible Online experience and proper support is part of that package.

Trevor as Easy Rider & Fresh Tidbits

A recent GTA V article from Polish magazine PSX Extreme has been scanned and posted on the web, and aside from the new image (great to see Rockstar paying homage to Easy Rider) there’s also quite a bit of new information. It’s true meaning may have been (somewhat) lost in translation, but nevertheless, read on…

  • When one of your other characters (ie one you are not controlling) is on the verge of death, you will hear warning signals (possibly vocal cues or music) alerting you to the fact they are in trouble (and presumably you need to switch to them to help out).
  • The military base will contain a massive selection of different military vehicles. You can reach it un-noticed and access the equipment if you are good enough.
  • There are three ways to transition between your characters: (1) automatic; (2) while viewing a movie; and (3) player initiated (clicking the appropriate HUD button).
  • After Chop (Franklin’s dog) plays his main role he can get lost and end up in the pound if Franklin neglects him (think horses in Red Dead Redemption).
  • Transitions between characters will not take more than 10 seconds maximum.
  • When you die the screen goes blurry.
  • The quality of in-game graphics is just as good as has been shown in the trailers (hooray!).
  • The Vinewood sign is visible from any corner of the city and if you climb the sign, you’ll get a one-star wanted level. Doing anything illegal like this will be enforced (like walking over a car bridge, climbing onto the roof of a train, etc).
  • Just about every big house in the map has a tennis court and they can all be played on.
  • You can get hit by lightning.
  • You need to obey road rules or else you will get a one-star wanted level.
  • There will be drunk drivers that you’ll need to look out for on the road.
  • There’s lots of car wrecks and other vehicle under the sea for you to explore – planes, boats, bodies, etc.
  • Driving a golf cart anywhere but on a golf course will earn you a fine.
  • As your wanted-level increases, the rhythm and intensity of the in-game music increases.

All New GTA 5 Details

2-may-gta5-screenshot (17)

A tonne of new Grand Theft Auto 5 information has been released over the past 24 hours (including all these screenshots) and rather than bog you down with pages and pages of details, here at GTA 5 Cheats we thought we’d give you a simple, no BS list that tells you quickly and simply what to expect when the game is released on September 17 this year. So without further ado…

Property and Business: You can buy properties as well as businesses. This will earn you extra cash from rent and revenue.

The Phone: There will be a new phone called the iFruit. With it you will be able to take pictures, call people, view contacts, browse the net, use social media and replay missions.

Gameplay: You can: roll from cover, rob liquor stores and ATMs, pick up hitchhikers and hunt animals (as in Red Dead Redemption).

Activities: Activities you can undertake include stunts (ie vehicle jumps etc), flying, tennis, yoga, golf, bike races and triathlons.

Player Customization: You will be able to customize your character with tattoos, haircuts and clothing (ala San Andreas).

Vehicle Customization: You will be able to customize your vehicles with paintjobs, tints, grills, spoilers, wheels and performance upgrades (ie Pay n Spray style).

Weapon Customization: Will include high capacity magazines, lasers, scopes and silencers.

Police Radar/Wanted Level: The police radar system will be similar to previous games, but there will no longer be the 6 star wanted level. Also so long as you are not in the line of sight of the cops, you’ll be able to hide.

Character Stats: Player attributes include stamina, shooting, strength, stealth, flying, driving, mechanical ability and lung capacity.

Character Specials: Each character will have a special ability. Michael has bullet time, Trevor has frenzy mode and Franklin has adrenaline junkie (slows time while driving). The first two are self-explanatory.

Map Size: The map is 350% bigger than that of Red Dead Redemption and 500% bigger if you include the water.  The gaming world is surrounded by water everywhere (as opposed to being land locked).

Ocean/Underwater: There is underwater features including fish and sharks, and also treasure, shipwrecks etc.

Missions and Heists:  The game revolves around missions called “heists”. You get to recruit and control all aspects of each heist. For example, who will do it (recruitment), which vehicles are used, what weapons, what outfits/disguises etc. The more certain crew are used, the more their skills will improve.

Dying/Restarting:  If you die you will be taken back to the last checkpoint, this is even if your other characters are alive.

Switching Characters:  When you switch characters the camera will zoom out, and then zoom back in on the character you’re moving to. The closer the two are together, the quicker it will be.

Pedestrians:  The AI level of the pedestrians will be greatly improved and there will be up to 500% more of them!

Multiplayer:  You can play the single player game using your multiplayer character (for a total of four possible choices) and simply pressing down on the d-pad will allow you to switch between single and multiplayer modes.

Gamers Starving for GTA 5 News

E3 2012 has begun and even though Grand Theft Auto 5 hasn’t even been officially mentioned there, in any capacity whatsoever, GTA 5 related news and rumors are popping up everywhere all over the net. Here’s a quick rundown on some of the more interesting pieces:

Tesco Leaked GTA 5 Release Date

I am posting this more as warning of what NOT to believe. Tesco (a UK based store) currently has GTA 5 listed with a release date of 28 December 2012. Not only does releasing the game after Christmas (if you’re gonna do it around that period at all) make zero sense, but as if Tesco would be the ones in the know with the rest of us in the dark… Credibility factor: none.
