GTA V Loading Screen Timewasters

Depending on your system, GTA V can have some pretty darn long load times. Usually developers try and make these bearable by putting a pretty picture on the screen along with a few game tips. If the devs are in a good mood maybe the tips cycle after a few seconds. And if the devs are being particularly generous they’ll let you interact with the loading screen, like in Skyrim for example.

In GTA V we only have the background pictures and the tips which can get quite boring after a while. So what should a gamer do when faced with a several-minute-long loading screen?

load

A simple method is to switch up the loading screens. Granted, this is only possible on PC. There are a few mods out there which change the backgrounds of the loading screens either to other images from GTA V or to something completely different. It’s up to you how… deviant you want to get.

Of course if you’re on console but have a smartphone or laptop on hand and are stuck on a loading screen, there is the entirety of the internet to provide you with momentary entertainment.

You could always fill out a GTA V personality quiz to find out which of the three horrible humans beings that are the center of the story you resemble the most.

You could also fill out GTA V related knowledge quizzes like this one. Granted, it is a tad dated but some of those things you’ll only know if you played enough. It’s a decent time-waster for sure.

If you’ve exhausted the internet’s massive supply of quizzes you could always learn something while you’re at it. The GTA wiki contains a wealth of useful info that could help you out once the game has loaded.

What do you guys usually do while GTA V loads?

GTA V Voice Actor Teases Story DLC… Again

Franklin’s voice actor, Shawn Fonteno, has a penchant for pulling the community’s leg with ambiguous posts on his personal Instagram account.

The latest tease is an image of the actor sitting in what looks to be one of the Rockstar offices. In the background are large framed posters of GTA IV, L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3. The biggest tell, however, is the fact that he’s wearing a mo-cap (motion capture) suit.

LOL ……

Fonteno has pulled similar tricks in the past, leading fans on with a rarely seen promotional image of GTA V’s PC version. He hinted that it might be a shot from Liberty City which will appear in the mythical Story DLC. Some eagle-eyed fans pointed that out rather hastily, but not fast enough to stem the tide of rumors.

As such, players are taking this particular picture with several spoonfuls of salt. The odd commenter here and there asks whether or not this means that Story DLC is confirmed, but others swiftly quiet them down.

The buzz around Story DLC has picked up in recent weeks following nearly one and a half years of silence broken only briefly by shoddy rumors every few months or so.

Amidst leaks and rumors, this is just more fuel on the fire, regardless of how believable – or, to be more precise, unbelievable – it is. Rumors of Story DLC being released at some point for GTA V have been around ever since a few months after GTA 5 was originally released.

dlc2

That’s nearly two years of nothing and rumors, despite massive popular demand. A rather large portion of GTA V players prefer single player, and some stay away from Online all together. While these players have mods to add new content to the game, this option is only available on PC. Console lone wolves have no alternatives and are itching for some new content.

Based on the rumors and leaks, do you thing that we might be seeing Story DLC for GTA V soon?

Agent Screenshots Leaked, Game Canned Or Restarted

GTA’s long lost brother, the mysterious game project called Agent, has been another potential smash-hit Rockstar franchise since 2009. This year however, some signs may point to a resurgence of the secretive property. First, a hush-hush appearance at a gaming conference. Then, a set of leaked screenshots, and a reference in the Social Club.

So what is going on with Agent?

agent2

Agent was announced way back in 2009 as a PS3 exclusive title to be developed by Rockstar Games. Recently, a former Rockstar artist added a few screenshots from the seemingly cancelled game to his online portfolio, which can be freely viewed online by anyone, and he also stated that his team was taken off the project at an undefined date to work on GTA V instead. Images from a work-in-progress game are never publicized in this manner, which would lead one to believe that Agent is dead and gone, however could be another explanation.

agent3

Earlier this year, back in summer, Europe’s largest video game conferenc, and one of the largest gaming events on the planet, was held in Köln, Germany. Gamescom is an event where several big-name publishers reveal new projects, or allow eager fans to try out demos of upcoming games for the first time. While it isn’t as big on announcements as, say, E3 or PAX, it is still an important show.

agent4

Rockstar was present in a limited manner this year. They only had a booth in the business area, which is already a restricted part of the show, and even then they only let select people in. Many people theorized that they were showing off the earliest build of a new take on Agent, rebooted as a PS4 exclusive. If the project was scrapped and restarted from the beginning, they would not use any old assets anyway, which is why the artist was allowed to use the above screenshots.

So, the question is – do you hope that Agent is still an active project, or do you care more about GTA VI?

GTA Online Lowriders As Told By Snapmatic

The GTA V community has quite a few budding photographers among it, so it seems. The game caters not only to filmmakers with the versatile Rockstar Editor, a way to capture footage in game and then add effects, but also has a feature called “snapmatic“.

photo4

Snapmatic allows you to take photos and edit them in game, and was developed specifically for GTA V. As is in real photography, there is a lot more to snapping a good picture than just pushing a button. You need to take light into account, direction, background, distance, colors, perspective, and a thousand other factors when you’re looking for the perfect shot.

photo2

The GTA V photography community is a large one with plenty of talent to go around. Rockstar has noticed this as well, and frequently hosts snapmatic contests for in-game cash prizes. These will come especially handy if any up and coming photographer is looking to get their hands on a new lowrider, the prices of which are astronomical. Also, Rockstar has just put on a snapmatic contest for the current weekend event, and while these images predate said contest, they sure as heck would have had a shot at winning. Although if this is what players produce just for fun, wait till you see what they submit when motivated by a GTA $1 million prize!

As you can see, these images are of a professional quality, with expert use of lighting, direction and contrast. Some photographers take their art extremely seriously, and are ready and willing to pay in blood for the perfect shot (not their own blood, of course).

So metal.

All these beauties are showing off the goods and features of the recently released Lowriders update for GTA Online, which is possibly the biggest update yet, sans the Heists update some time ago.

Have we got any GTA 5 Cheats readers that count themeselves as budding GTA V photographers too?

New 1080p Image of “GTA V on PC” Posted…

In the past 24 hours someone casually logged into the GTAForums and posted the screenshot you can see below. It’s taken from Grand Theft Auto V and has a resolution of 1080p… 1080p you say? That’s impossible – the maximum resolution of the current version of the game (on Xbox 360 and PS3) is only 720p… Well not if this screenshot is taken from the PC version.

gta-v-pc-1080p

We won’t go over the dozens of rumors concerning a PC version of GTA 5 right now. Instead you can browse all the stories yourself in our archives. And this latest “rumor”, or more appropriately “piece of evidence”, regarding the existence of a PC version would have been pretty strong, had it not been literally just debunked and proven false.

As user “Tuskin38” on the GTAForums discovered, the exact same user that uploaded this new image “KyleN” has also posted previous images that he “suggested” were from a PC version of GTA V and that were subsequently proven fake too. You can check those shots out here.

So while this latest piece of news might have generated a bit of hype for a short but exciting time (heck, we want GTA V on PC too!) it’s ultimately been proven just another piece of false information. In the meantime we can only wait and hope…

GTA 5 Map Leaked, New Screenshot

Warning: this post is technically a spoiler, but we’ve decided to post it since the map is going to be EVERYWHERE you look in the next few hours anyway. If you don’t want to see the map of Los Santos and Blaine County, don’t read any further. Instead just look at the new screenshot we’ve embedded below and carry on…

franklin-shooting

Onto the map… The BradyGames Guide for GTA V has been shipped to stores and unlike physical disc copies of GTA 5, security for this product doesn’t seem that tight. There’s information from it being leaked absolutely everywhere. One of those things is the much-anticipated and talked about map of Los Santos and Blaine County. Now we finally get to try and estimate the true scale of the gaming world that Rockstar Games has created. You won’t be disappointed… Click for a full size version!

GTA 5 Dominates Preorder Charts

VGChartz has just released its preorders stats for the week ending June 15 and we’re very pleased to say that Grand Theft Auto V is completely dominating in the United States.

top-10-preorders

As you can see, the Xbox 360 version of the game has proven most popular so far with a total of 333,477 units preordered. The PS3 version comes in as the second most popular preordered game with 290,997 units. Finally, we have Battlefield 4 in a distant third with just 161,500 units preordered.

Also interesting is that preorders for GTA 5 appear to be ramping up (which you would expect as we get closer to 17 September). Extrapolating the chart below we might even break one million units on each platform!

Have you preordered Grand Theft Auto 5 yet? If not, do it now! Xbox 360 version | PS3 version.

PS: We also have a new, much higher quality version of the new Gamestop GTA V posters. Makes for a perfect wallpaper!

Another GTA 5 Screenshot – Bike Pipes

Have you heard of Gamer Z magazine? Up until today, neither we had we, probably because we don’t live in South Korea. Gamer Z has just published a brand new Grand Theft Auto V screenshot though and to us, that’s what matters.

gtav-bike-scan

The character riding the motorcycle is most likely Franklin (as opposed to Trevor or Michael) and has got us thinking how Rockstar will handle bikes in GTA 5. Will you come flying off them with the slightest bump from anything, or will it be a bit harder to get knocked off?

Coincidentally we’ve just passed through the “100 days to go” window for GTA V’s release on 17 September. Not long to go now!

Trevor as Easy Rider & Fresh Tidbits

A recent GTA V article from Polish magazine PSX Extreme has been scanned and posted on the web, and aside from the new image (great to see Rockstar paying homage to Easy Rider) there’s also quite a bit of new information. It’s true meaning may have been (somewhat) lost in translation, but nevertheless, read on…

trevor-easy-rider

  • When one of your other characters (ie one you are not controlling) is on the verge of death, you will hear warning signals (possibly vocal cues or music) alerting you to the fact they are in trouble (and presumably you need to switch to them to help out).
  • The military base will contain a massive selection of different military vehicles. You can reach it un-noticed and access the equipment if you are good enough.
  • There are three ways to transition between your characters: (1) automatic; (2) while viewing a movie; and (3) player initiated (clicking the appropriate HUD button).
  • After Chop (Franklin’s dog) plays his main role he can get lost and end up in the pound if Franklin neglects him (think horses in Red Dead Redemption).
  • Transitions between characters will not take more than 10 seconds maximum.
  • When you die the screen goes blurry.
  • The quality of in-game graphics is just as good as has been shown in the trailers (hooray!).
  • The Vinewood sign is visible from any corner of the city and if you climb the sign, you’ll get a one-star wanted level. Doing anything illegal like this will be enforced (like walking over a car bridge, climbing onto the roof of a train, etc).
  • Just about every big house in the map has a tennis court and they can all be played on.
  • You can get hit by lightning.
  • You need to obey road rules or else you will get a one-star wanted level.
  • There will be drunk drivers that you’ll need to look out for on the road.
  • There’s lots of car wrecks and other vehicle under the sea for you to explore – planes, boats, bodies, etc.
  • Driving a golf cart anywhere but on a golf course will earn you a fine.
  • As your wanted-level increases, the rhythm and intensity of the in-game music increases.

Exciting New Bank Robbery Screen Emerges

Copies of Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year edition have been throwing up a few GTA V related surprises lately. Some users have reported getting a general “GTA 5 flyer” (with artwork we’ve already been shown), but as you’ll see from the image below, there are also brand new screenshots to found too!

gtav-bank-robbery-screen

This particular image was taken on a cell phone camera (hence the blurriness) but depicts a bank robbery about to take place. Notwithstanding the pic quality, we are pretty excited – the attention to detail looks amazing! If only a high quality version would show up…
