GTA 5: The Top Cheat Codes

Rockstar’s overwhelmingly popular open-world action adventure franchise GTA has always heavily featured built-in cheat codes, which either grant players significant advantages in gameplay, provide them with vehicles and items or activate various entertaining gameplay modifiers.

Cheats have been an integral part of the franchise since the beginning, and GTA 5 is no exception. With the release of the enhanced editions, for the first time in the history of the franchise players could also use phone cheats instead of the button combinations, though this original and loved method of activating the codes is still functional.

While deactivated in GTA Online for obvious reasons, cheats in single player aren’t something you “shouldn’t use”, since they are as much part of the standard Grand Theft Auto experience as any other feature. There are plenty of cheats to pick and choose from with which you can augment your session.

If you happen to be looking for GTA 5 cheats, you’re in the perfect place – in case the site’s name didn’t tick you off. GTA 5 Cheats is the number one website purveying codes for Rockstar’s latest hit release. Of course, we’ve branched out and feature the best in-depth guides for both single player and Online, as well as daily news coverage, bringing you all the breaking headlines regarding the game.

We’ve also launched our app some time ago, allowing users to access our cheats database with fewer clicks (taps) on their smart devices, making it easier to hit up the necessary info while playing. Plenty of people have started using the app due to the convenience factor – you can give it a download here for Android and here for iOS.

Based on data collected from both our site and our app, we’ve compiled this list of the top 10 most popular cheats for GTA 5. If this is your first time using cheats in the game, we suggest trying these out first to give you a great first feel for the new opportunities opened up by using the codes.

10 – Flaming Bullets

While incendiary ammo does exist in real life, there are no weapons in GTA 5 which use such rounds by default. This is probably the case for the sake of realism, as all kinds of incendiary ammunition types are strictly controlled in the USA, unlike regular firearms.

The Flaming Bullets cheat makes all of your shots, regardless of weapon, set everything on fire that they touch. Vehicles, enemies, innocent bystanders – all dynamic objects in the game will immolate upon impact. This is one of the milder cheats in GTA 5, as they do not break the lore or the sense of realism. Using these rounds will greatly increase your damage output.

9 – Explosive Melee Attacks

This is pretty much the whacky and crazy cousin of the previous cheat. Instead of making your bullets set things on fire, you can now do so with your fists. And feet, of course. This is where GTA 5’s cheats take a turn for the over-the-top.

Kicks and punches don’t only set things and people on fire, but also cause a blast and shockwave to mimic an actual explosion. This is more than just a fire-punch, here. You’ll be sending your enemies soaring through the air while in fire with this cheat!

8 – Max Health and Armor

This is your run of the mill “oh shit I’m going to die” cheat. It instantly restores all of your health and armor to maximum, though it does not grant you invincibility or god mode or anything like that. It’s more of a one time pick-me-up when you’re in a tight spot rather than a long-term cheesing method (there are other cheats for that).

Activating this cheat doesn’t put your health and armor on constant recharge, meaning if you start nearing death again after use, you’ll need to activate it again to get you your much needed boost. You might end up using this cheat often if you decide to pass the time in-game by messing with Madrazo.

7 – Super Jump

Having shaken off the shackles of realism by the second cheat in this list, we’re sticking strongly to the theme of outlandish super-powers. Players seemingly really like leaping around the world of GTA 5, as the super jump cheat is more popular than something like explosive melee attacks. Honestly, I find this surprising – I mean, what is cooler than explosive melee attacks?

Either way, the community seems to disagree. If the “regular” super jump still isn’t enough for you, holding down the jump button will further increase the height and distance of the jumps.

6 – Explosive Ammo

Explosive punches only land 9th place, but this beats super jump? Oh well. Veering back to reality from crazy-land for a short respite, this cheat once again introduces an alternate ammo type to GTA 5 which also exists in real life. High explosive rounds take the “go boom” route instead of setting things on fire of the incendiary ammo.

Like the punches, these shots now blow stuff and people up while also setting things on fire. We’re seeing a trend here – Rockstar is bound to make a killing if they market GTA VI to pyromaniacs.

5 – Fast Run

While this particular GTA 5 cheat doesn’t turn you into the Flash (there is a mod for that), it does drastically increase your sprinting speed. How does something so mundane beat things like explosive punches? Well, a higher-than-normal sprint speed isn’t too outlandish, however it does make movement quicker (obviously) when you don’t have access to vehicles.

This particular cheat can make progressing through certain missions much easier, particularly if said missions force you to go at it on foot. The various activities packed into GTA 5 offer plenty of opportunities where this cheat comes in handy.

4 – Drunk Mode

Really, community? Really?

So drunk mode doesn’t actually help you in any way, nor does it enhance the playing experience. If you absolutely, positively want your screen to be blurry and your character to slalom while you’re pushing forward, activate this.

Sure, it might be funny and entertaining seeing Michael, Franklin or Trevor bumble around shitfaced, but you too will probably feel sick after having this active for too long.

3 – Invincibility

The good old God Mode. As old as video game cheats themselves, some form of this cheat has been present in every GTA game released. Of course, becoming impervious to any and all forms of damage makes the game incredibly easy (though some objectives may still be failed), sometimes you just want to go full-on serial killer and mow down tons of virtual pedestrians without having to worry about cops killing you.

If that’s the case, we strongly advise meeting a therapist. Just in case.

2 – Give Weapons

So, you’re all beefed up with invincibility, but feel like going at a killing-spree with just your dusty old fists isn’t efficient enough? First of all, refer to our closing advice from the previous entry, and second of all, use this cheat.

The Give Weapons cheat is yet another one that is popular in all of gaming, not just GTA 5. This gives you a complete arsenal of all the weapons in the game, fully loaded (when applicable). Countless rifles, SMGs, pistols, an RPG, a Minigun, a fictitious Railgun all become available for your psychopathic needs.

Or, you know, maybe you’re just doing a story mission and ran out of ammo or something. We’re not assume everyone who uses this cheat is a mass murderer.

1 – Spawn Duke O’Death

So how does a vehicle spawning cheat come out on top? Is it some kind of super-awesome flaming cyber-tank which is constantly emitting a death-aura? Is it a stylised jetpack with skulls all over it? Is it literally the private ride of the grim reaper?

Well, surprisingly enough, neither. It’s just black and kinda durable. The Duke O’Death is a modified Imponte Dukes with armor plating, a stronger engine and a rollcage. It is pretty great for ramming other vehicles and damaging enemy cars by crashing into them at high speeds, as the player won’t sustain damage.

Even though this is a cheat for spawning the vehicle, it must first be unlocked by completing a randomly spawning event called “Duel” if you win, you’ll be able to spawn this murderous ride whenever you so wish.

Sure, it’s cool, slick and ramming other cars is fun, but we’re honestly quite surprised that this cheat came out on top. Either way, the numbers don’t lie and the people have spoken. The number one cheat for GTA 5 is the code that spawns a Duke O’Death.

While these are the ten most popular cheats around, they are hardly the only ones. There are tons of cheats out there, affecting several aspects of gameplay. Depending on system, you can check out the cheats for your platform either through our app, or by navigating to the cheats section of this site via the menu bar at the top of this page. Happy cheating!

GTA IV Cheats Mistaken For Coup Code

It’s always amusing to see GTA make international headlines related to topics which otherwise have no relation to video games.

While this usually involves people driving irresponsibly and news agencies referring to the event as “GTA in real life”, or some new controversy spawning a campaign to have the games banned, today we’re bringing a completely new and absurd piece of news.

If any of you have been following world news recently, you might have heard of a short-lived but bloody and disruptive coup attempt in Turkey. A rogue element of the Turkish military apparently attempted to wrestle power from the current prime minister, however the coup was quickly put down.

Unfortunately, the aftermath has drawn quite a bit of ire due to its alleged brutality. There are many controversies surrounding Turkey and many news sources report different things. We will not talk about that today though. Today, we will talk about something a bit more lighthearted (but obviously related).

On live television, a Turkish pro-government journalist found a small notebook in the trash with a set of GTA IV cheat codes listed. You know, the usual codes for weapons, ammo, health, armor and more. For some reason, the reporter then assumed it was a set of codes used by the conspirators to communicate during the coup!

This is how they communicate in secrets. Even though it says “cheats,” health and gun, health and armor, weather, this were the things they used in the coup.

Naturally, the internet has latched onto this as the source of many jokes. The coup failing due to the conspirators having to go bowling with cousin Roman is the most popular one, but saying that if the aggressor tanks had went to a Paint’N’Spray they would have gotten away with it is also common.

Then again, we imagine if the rebels truly had access to virtually unlimited armor, weapons, “health” and attack-helicopters, the coup would have gone differently. We’re just glad people can’t summon RPGs out of the freaking ether just by calling a phone-number!

In all seriousness, the coup was a tragic event that lead to dozens of deaths and left political upheaval in its wake. However this little tidbit of lighthearted fun probably can’t hurt. How a reporter at a large news agency doesn’t actually know what GTA is does baffle us a bit. After all, it’s not like we assume she plays, but how hasn’t she even heard of it before?

Last GTA V Cellphone & PC Cheats Discovered

The GTA franchise is known for its cheats as much as its violence and cars. In the early console versions of the game they appeared in-game as button combinations, to be entered during regular gameplay in order to activate their effects. Then when the current-gen and PC version of GTA V launched, they brought with them a new way of using the iconic cheats.

If you pull up your character’s phone, and punch in the right number, initiating the call will trigger the associated cheat. Most phone cheats are the same as regular cheats, however some unique easter eggs have also been added by Rockstar that are phone exclusive.

Recently a new phone cheat named “Black Cellphones” was discovered. If you called the associated number, the numbers of which spelled out EMP-DROP, a small explosion would occur right in front of you, and the phone will turn black. Speculation as to the reason this exists lead to the rise of new rumors.

Black Cellphones isn’t the only new cheat to be discovered this week, however. Until now, a few of the regular cheats still didn’t have phone numbers or PC keyboard combinations assigned to them.

  • Weapons: 1-999-8665-87 (TOOLUP)
  • Fast Swim: 1-999-468-44557 (GOTGILLS)
  • Super Jump: 1-999-467-86-48 (HOPTOIT)
  • Spawn Caddy: 1-999-4653-46-1 (HOLEIN1)
  • Spawn Duster: 1-999-359-77729 (FLYSPRAY)

With these discovered, the complete list of regular cheats has (finally) been completed. The recent discovery of Black Cellphones however, suggests that there are still some secret phone-only cheats out there which haven’t yet been found.

Players who have been involved with the Mount Chiliad mystery immediately latched on to this, seeing an opportunity for the next big break. While some months ago headway was being steadily made, things ground to a halt since. These curious players are hoping that undiscovered cell phone cheats are the next step in the puzzle, if not the solution itself.

Do you prefer using the cell phone cheating method in GTA V over regular button combinations, or are you more of a traditionalist?

Newest GTA Online Anti-Cheat Methods Detailed

GTA Online patch 1.29, containing the Freemode Events DLC, has introduced a new anti-cheat system. Better yet, it introduced it in a way that does not shaft PC players.

In fact not only are PC players unshackled from their previous restraints, the new system works marvellously, nicking cheaters and hackers in GTA Online consistently. However, do not mistake the new method (which no longer breaks the game) any less strict. In fact, some of the new punishments are so severe that this can be considered yet another large scale crackdown.

As opposed to the previous infringement ladder (being 10 days to one month to two months, with only extreme cases earning a permaban) it seems Rockstar is no longer intent on keeping cheaters in the game and merely punishing them temporarily. Now, the 10 day ban comes with a longer or even permanent chat and mic ban, the one month ban sets your cash balance to GTA$20,000 (even if you purchased a Shark cash card), and the two month ban has been changed to a permanent ban from GTA Online.

But wait.

There’s more.

If you are hit with all three on the same account, you will reportedly be banned from playing story mode. Yes, you read that right. Story mode. If this happens, you will only be able to run the game in offline mode. This particular addition has already began to make the public restless, which could be expected, as why on earth would multiplayer hacking get you banned from the single player portion?

Other punishments include matchmaking limitations, which mean that you’d only be able to join lobbies with very few players, lobbies populated only by cheaters, or empty lobbies. This is still regulated based upon the bad sport points, or smaller cheating infringements.

GTA V’s New Anti-Cheat System Is Finally PC Friendly

Well, that took some time, didn’t it? By now, anyone who has been following GTA V news in any way knows that Rockstar is practically waging total war against the hackers and cheaters running rampant on GTA Online servers.

It all started nice and calm, with reserved measures such as default anti-cheat software integration, a community report system and a handful of hidden stats. Then Rockstar flexed their humor muscle (like they always do!) and pulled a fast one by making the Duke O’Death, which should not be in GTA Online at all, a booby-trapped cheater bait.

However, things got ugly when even after these well mannered measures, the number of hackers continued to an all time high, and was rising. Rockstar then took the gloves off and the war began. First, 1.27 disabled mods entirely in both single player and GTA Online, however the legitimate single player modders got around the block swiftly, when then allowed the Online modders back in.

This is where Rockstar dropped the figurative atomic bomb. 1.28 contained a complex anti-modding system which had the unforeseen circumstance of breaking the game entirely. Un-modded instances of GTA V ran with single digit frame rates on beastly PCs.

While Rockstar did mend that particular issue, and GTA V now runs optimally and mods work again, the issue of hackers is still very relevant, especially with Freemode Events making GTA Online much more open.

So Rockstar has implemented a new system with patch 1.29. Basically, the system is the old hidden stat tracking method on steroids. Now Rockstar has a massive arsenal of stats on each player which track a number of aspects of a single variable. Whereas in the old system they just looked at how much money you have at any given time, they now track when you get it, where you get it, why you get it and how you get it. With this multi-lateral approach, hackers are no longer covered by their targeted hacks, and the PC players and modders are free to carry on with their thing.

GTA V Ill-Gotten Gains Busting Vehicle Replicators

Grand Theft Auto Online’s newest update, 1.27, which included the first part of the Ill-Gotten Gains DLC, featured a plethora of tweaks, bug-fixes and security updates (which also killed mods on PC), as well as quite a bit of content, such as luxury jets, new vehicles and weapon engravings.

Turns out, some of the changes implemented by Rockstar in the patch are only seeing the light of day with a slight delay. One of these tweaks is the addition of a new stat which tracks the sale of vehicles. Patch 1.09/1.23 introduced a glitch which, in the right conditions, allowed players to duplicate vehicles, taking them back to their garage, and selling them as many times as they repeat the process. The method was unreliable at best, and required extreme patience for it to actually pay off, but some people out there were making a killing off duplicated vehicles.

With the new update, the rule regarding the 48 minute time limit, allowing players to sell a total of six cars per day before getting the warning about exceeding the limit is overridden. With the tracking enabled by the new stat in place, Rockstar can monitor people who make use of vehicle duplication and sales glitches, and ban them accordingly.

Rockstar has been very diligent in cracking down on any and all glitches or exploits that influence the game’s economy. GTA Online has a flourishing stock market, and while these glitches are in place, people turning a profit from them will have an unfair edge over those gamers who prefer to play in an honest manner.

The game’s stock market is also the reason why there is no money cheat implemented in single player. The stock market we access from the SP mode is the same one operating in GTA Online, therefore a single player money cheat would still wreak havoc on the stock prices in Online, with disastrous consequences.

For those of you who need a money-boost, Rockstar is offering Shark Cash Cards as DLC. PC gamers beware, though, as purchasing these voids your right to a steam refund.

Six New GTA V Cell Phone Cheats Found

Today we’re pleased to bring you six new cell phone numbers that will activate cheats in Grand Theft Auto V. While the cheats themselves are not new (eg “spawn BMX”), the discovery of the cell phone numbers to activate them is.

The only thing is that all of the cell phone versions of the cheats have not yet been found, however today you can cross six off of that list!

Make sure you check out the full list of cell phone cheats for GTA 5 here (the ones discovered so far) and check below for a summary of the new ones that have just been found.

Cheat Limitations in GTA V

Grand Theft Auto V, a game that’s only increased in popularity since its initial release in 2013, has all of the elements that have made GTA games popular in the past. But for all of the praise it has received as the best GTA game yet, there are some players who miss certain aspects of previous titles in the series.

Cheat codes have been one of the most popular gameplay elements for fans of Grand Theft Auto V, primarily because of cheat codes’ ability to manipulate the gameplay and enable the player to have more fun – like using cheats to activate things such as moon gravity, invincibility, and weather changes.

However many fans of GTA V have been disappointed with some of the cheats in it, mainly because of certain limitations placed upon their use. For example, if you use the cheat code for invincibility, you can expect your invincibility to run out after five minutes, which can be very frustrating if you’re in the middle of a situation where invincibility is necessary to do what you want (imagine a shoot-out versus 20 cops!). Other fans are frustrated by the super jump cheat disabling once your character moves into an internal structure.

Part of the design of GTA V obviously included these limitations, but it’s curious as to why Rockstar decided to take this route with the cheat codes, especially since there were no limitations on the cheat codes in previous games in the Grand Theft Auto series. One of the aspects players often enjoyed most in previous titles in the series was the ability to turn the world into absolute chaos and yet walk away unscathed because of cheat codes. Some fans have speculated that Rockstar included cheat code limitations in order to make GTA 5 a little more realistic and present more of a challenge to players who often rely on cheat codes to get them out of sticky situations.

Whatever the reason for the inclusion of cheat code limitations in Grand Theft Auto V, fans of the game are definitely frustrated, especially fans who have been playing GTA games for years. While not every GTA game has the same cheat codes built in, there are definitely some that fans have gotten used to, and that importantly that worked without limitations. Five-minute invincibility is a new concept and is hard to see as a step up from the unlimited invincibility of the past. Perhaps Rockstar will remove these limitations in the next instalment of the series to give players the level of control they once enjoyed.

How will Cheats for GTA V on PC be Activated?

PC gamers who are fans of the Grand Theft Auto series of games have something exciting to look forward to this year when Grand Theft Auto V (finally) releases for PC on March 24. The game, which was originally released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, has been completely remastered, giving fans who have already played the original version of the game plenty of new content and an improved gaming experience.

The game became instantly popular upon its initial launch, which was only a couple months before the Playstation 4 and Xbox One were also released. This prompted many fans who had upgraded their systems to want a version of the game for their new consoles. Then last year Rockstar Games announced that the game would be coming to the new platforms as well as PC. The remastered game was re-released for PS4 and Xbox One on November 18 2014 with the PC version being set back for a 2015 release.

One aspect of the game that fans are particularly excited about is the cheat codes that can be used to significantly alter some elements of game play (and yes, what this website is essentially all about!). Cheat codes have always been popular with GTA fans and some of the most popular cheats for GTA V give players the ability to change the weather, or give the game world moon gravity. Of course, the ever-popular cheats that give you maximum health or allow you to spawn new vehicles are also there. It’s easy to see why cheat codes would make the game even more fun than it already is because it gives you a high level of control over many of the elements that make it so popular.

An interesting question though, is how fans will be able to enter cheat codes on the PC version of the game. With the Xbox One and PS4 console versions, you have two main ways you can enter codes: control button combinations and by entering phone numbers into the in-game phone of your character. Using cell phone numbers has added an element of fun by giving the phone a purpose that significantly affects gameplay, it is also how cheats codes have been traditionally entered in previous GTA games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. That said though, being able to use controller button combinations is actually easier most of the time. Note that the first two platform releases of GTA V, on the Xbox 360 and PS3, only allow cheats to be entered via controller button combinations.

Turning to the PC version though, while it’s likely that phone number cheats will be made available (as they have been with the other remastered versions – on Xbox One and PS4), the question is whether there will be additional means of cheat entry, like via the keyboard. We note that GTA: SA had cheat entry via the keyboard too (with usually a couple of different codes being available to activate a specific cheat), and as we said earlier, using the cell phone to enter cheats can be time consuming and difficult in the middle of a car chase or gun fight.

Using the in-game phone for entering cheat codes is definitely a fun addition to the game, but reducing cheat code entry to just phone numbers will likely just frustrate players who may find they enjoy the console versions better for this reason. It’s easy to envision why phone numbers may be the only option because if you’re just using your PC keyboard, you’re not working with a controller and button combinations. However, you’d hope Rockstar also wants players to have the best gaming experience possible, and that would make it unlikely that the PC version would lack something the remastered console versions have – the ability to type in keyboard entries for cheat codes.

GTA V for PC releases March 24 this year. You can pre-order it at your favorite retailer here.

Three New GTA V Cell Phone Cheats

GTA V wallpaper 1

Three new GTA V cell phone cheats have been discovered. If you have the PS4 or Xbox One version of GTA V (or the PC version, when it comes out later this month), you can activate Drunk Mode and Fast Run, as well as cycle through weather effects, by entering the following numbers from your in-game cell phone:

Drunk Mode
Warning: do not attempt to operate heavy machinery!
1-999-547-861 (LIQUOR)

Fast Run
1-999-228-8463 (CATCH ME)

Change Weather
Rotates through sunny, clear, cloudy, smoggy, overcast, rainy, thundery, clearing and snowing
1-999-625-348-7246 (MAKE IT RAIN)

They can now be found listed with the rest of our cheats for GTA V remastered. Additionally, the new versions of GTA V have brought another benefit for players who enjoy cheat codes. While in the original versions, you had to re-enter each code every time you used it, these cell phone cheats make it a little easier thanks to a redial button. Pressing the phone’s * key will dial the last number, or re-activate the last cheat code, you entered.
