Rockstar’s signature sense of humor certainly lingers on in their employees even after they move on from the company.
Danny Ross, a former Rockstar employee, recently responded to a few questions from fans on the Subreddit of Opie and Anthony, a (recently cancelled) American talk show. While Danny is more well known for his exploits outside of Rockstar, a few fans of GTA V’s developers took to the thread in order to find out some info about what Rockstar has planned for the future. Obviously, nothing was directly revealed, since Danny is undoubtedly bound by an NDA contract twice as long as my leg. However he did give some hints. Or did he?
Hey Danny, long time/first time…f*$# this O&A nonsense and lets get to some real news. WTF does Rockstar have on deck?
One particular fan of Rockstar got straight to the point. On first glance, Danny’s response in incoherent though and makes no sense.
Really? Dumbass. Really? Two.
So what’s up with that?
Well, if you look at that a second time, you’ll notice that the capital letters of the first three words spell out an abbreviation which should be very well known to any fan of Rockstar’s games worth their mettle. RDR is used frequently in gaming circles when referring to Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar’s console only western GTA-like game. Grand Theft Horse was extremely popular, and a PC port was requested by countless fans. But despite being extremely successful, there was never a sequel planned – this was contrary to many rumors at the time too.
Danny’s comment seemed like he is trying to bypass the NDA and bring the existence of RDR 2 to light, however he later clarified that he’s just screwing with the community.
Nah I’m just playing. GTA6 is up next[…]
Did Danny get freaked out by realising he was potentially breaking some sort of NDA just by saying “Really? Dumbass. Really? Two.” Will the next Red Dead be called Read Dead Redemption 2 or something else? And will Grand Theft Auto VI really come out before the next Read Dead?
