PC Launch Commands

If you have the PC version of GTA V, you can run command lines either by adding them to the existing “commandline.txt” file in the game’s root folder, or (if that file is not in your folder) by creating “commandline.txt” and then adding them.

Below are some useful commands that enable you to alter the game in various ways. Don’t forget to check out our list of PC console cheats either!

  • UseAutoSettings – This will make the game use settings created automatically.
  • benchmark – This will begin a benchmark test from the command line.
  • benchmarkFrameTimes – This will give your the frame time output from the benchmark test.
  • benchmarkIterations – This lets you set how many iterations you want to run the benchmark test for.
  • benchmarkPass – This lets you set a specific benchmark test.
  • benchmarknoaudio – This turns off audio processing for graphics benchmarks.
  • disableHyperthreading – It will not consider hyperthreaded cores as cores it can create tasks on.
  • HDStreaminingInFlight – This will allow HD streaming while flying.
  • uilanguage – This lets you change the game’s language.
  • keyboardLocal – This allows you to change the region for your keyboard’s layout.
  • goStraighToMP – Loading the game will take you directly to GTA Online multiplayer.
  • StraightIntoFreemode – If you can access Freemode, the game will launch there.
  • fullscreen – The game will run in fullscreen mode.
  • windowed – The game will run in windowed mode.
  • disallowResizeWindow – This will prevent the window from being resized.
  • borderless – The game will run in a borderless window.
  • height – This allows you to set the window height.
  • width – This allows you to set the window width.
  • ignoreDifferntVideoCard – Your settings won’t change if you use a new video card.
  • ignoreprofile – The game will ignore your profile settings.
  • mouseexclusive – Only the mouse will be used.
  • safemode – You’ll begin with the minimum settings, but it won’t be saved.
  • useMinimumSettings – This puts the game on the minimum settings.
  • noInGameDOF – This will turn off the game’s Depth of Field effects.
  • shadowSoftness – This will let you choose either linear, rpdb, box 4×4, or soft 16.
  • SSA – This will turn on SSA.
  • SSAO – This allows you to set the SSAO quality from 0 to 2.
    anisotropicQualityLevel – This allows you to set the anisotropic filter quality level from 0 to 16.
  • cityDensity – This allows you to adjust the city’s density from 0.0 to 1.0.
  • fogVolumes – This triggers volumetric lighting in fog.
    fxaa – This lets you set the FXAA quality from 0 to 3.
  • grassQuality – This lets you adjust the quality of the grass from 0 to 5.
  • lodScale – This lets you set the level of detail distance from 0.0 to 1.0f.
  • particleQuality – This lets you set the particle quality from 0 to 2.
  • particleShadows – This turns on particle shadows.
  • pedLodBias – This lets you adjust the level of detail distance bias for pedestrians from 0.0 to 1.0f.
  • postFX – This lets you set the postFX quality from 0 to 3.
  • reflectionBlur – This turns on the reflection map blur.
  • reflectionQuality – This lets you adjust the reflection quality from 0 to 3.
  • shaderQuality – This lets you adjust the shader quality from 0 to 2.
  • shadowLongShadows – Special shadows will be rendered for dusk and dawn within the game.
  • shadowQuality – This lets you adjut the quality of shadows from 0 to 3.
  • tesselation – This lets you set tesselation from 0 to 3.
  • textureQuality – This lets you adjust the quality of textures from 0 to 2.
  • txaa – This allows NVIDIA’s TXAA technology.
  • vehicleLodBias – This lets you adjust the level of detail distance bias for vehicles from 0.0 to 1.0f.
  • waterQuality – This lets you adjust the quality of water effects from 0 to 1.
  • hdr – This changes the rendering pipeline to 16-bit.
  • noquattransform – Quaternion transforms will not be used for placed entities.
  • DX10 – The game will use DX 10.
  • DX10_1 – The game will use DX 10.1.
  • DX11 – The game will use DX 11.
  • GPUCount – This will allow you to override the GPU Count.
  • adapter – This allows you to choose a screen adatper by number (zero-based).
  • frameLimit – The game’s verticle synchronizations will be limited to a set number.
  • multiSample – This allows you to choose the number of multisamples from 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16.
