GTA Online’s Pac Standard Heist In One Shot

We’ve written odes to the wonders of the Rockstar Editor, GTA V’s built-in proprietary gameplay recording and video editing tool. The ease of access and use of the tool has made the number of fan videos made for GTA V spike since the PC release and once again after the Editor came to consoles. We often feature the best and most original of the videos made by the community in articles on our site. Some of these are recreations of existing media, or entirely original.

Considering the quality of some of the content made using the Editor, Rockstar really should consider kicking off Editor competitions, much like the Snapmatic competitions which go on every time there is a GTA Online event to celebrate the release of a DLC update. The winning video could take home 3 or 4 million worth of in-game cash, since putting together a winning film is much more work than getting a good shot.

This video we’re featuring today could sure as hell run for that Editor competition prize if there was one. It blends great directing talent with luck, as the scene wasn’t scripted or set up in advance, it was merely recorded on the fly and later edited to see what turns out. For an impromptu video, it is marvelous.

The whole thing is a single continuous shot of an action-packed escape scene during the finale of the Pacific Standard Heist, the most difficult (and most lucrative) heist currently in GTA Online. The video pans around the battlefield, makes tasteful use of slow-mo and tracks the desperate struggle of all the heist-members. The video very much feels like a scene from a big-budget action film – both in style and in quality.
